We are now seeking to appoint an experienced bookkeeper on a full-time, perm basis. A 4-day week will also be considered. Your new role As Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in the finance function, managing day-to-day financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. You will work closely with the Managing Director and wider team to support the smooth running of operations. Key responsibilities include: Maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks) Processing invoices, receipts, payments, and bank reconciliations Managing accounts payable and receivable Preparing VAT returns and assisting with payroll Monitoring cash flow and supporting budgeting activities Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting Liaising with external accountants and auditors Supporting finance-related administrative tasks What you'll need to succeed Minimum 2 years' experience in a bookkeeping or finance role Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of accounting principles and VAT regulations Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Experience in the construction or contracting industry Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Strong communication skills Desirable: AAT qualification or equivalent Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) What you'll get in return Competitive salary depending on experience Flexible working hours/ reduced working week can be offered.
