About this client:

Dylan is 14, soon to be 15, and lives with his mum and younger sister. He has a fantastic sense of humour, quick wit, and loves playful banter. While he may present a tough exterior at first, Dylan is actually very sensitive, and it may take time for him to build trust with new people. Dylan experiences big emotions; he can shift from very happy to quite low quickly. Having an experienced SEN Professional by his side to support him to regulate these feelings and celebrate his progress is a key goal for his family. Academically, Dylan has faced challenges, however this year he has made great strides in building confidence and working on his self-esteem. It's essential that this positive momentum continues. He enjoys a wide range of fun activities, with a special love for dinosaurs and Disney! Lego is also a big passion; his Buddy will be guided through various builds. Dylan has a Brain Injury, diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Epilepsy. More detailed information will be provided for shortlisted candidates.

Overview of role:

Initially, Dylan's Buddy will spend time with him and his mum to help him feel safe and comfortable. Building trust is essential before transitioning to spending time apart from his family on weekends. Weekend shifts typically begin around 10/11 a.m. and finish around 5/6 p.m. Activities will vary from fun outings to more routine tasks like shopping, followed by lunch at places like Pizza Express. Depending on how Dylan's week has gone, there may be bigger outings, such as trips to theme parks, so a love for fast rides is a definite plus! on rainy days or quieter weekends, Dylan will enjoy watching Marvel, Transformers and diving into Disney, his favourites. Showing off his dinosaur knowledge or building Lego creations with his Buddy.

Who this job would suit:

This role is ideal for someone with solid, hands-on experience supporting teenagers with ASC and ADHD. The right person will bring practical tools and strategies to support Dylan, continue building his self-esteem and life skills, you will be a role model and advocate. Someone currently working in a school setting would be a great fit, as there will be additional hours available during school holidays.

What's great about this job:

Dylan is truly the star of this role. Being part of his journey toward greater independence and confidence will be incredibly rewarding. The position includes training, ongoing supervision, and support from both his case manager and his mum.
