Whilst the Pfizer Medical vision and overarching model remained consistent, part of Medical, more specifically Therapeutic Areas and Foundational Capabilities (e.g., Medical Communications & Content, Medical Evidence Generation, etc.), are now part of R&D, more closely integrating our core Medical functions.

In 2025, we concentrated on ideating, rolling out, and refining these new ways of working. We achieved several significant milestones that we will continue to embed for sustained excellence in 2026.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to continue to drive the momentum of our new Medical ways of working through a critical one-year secondment opportunity. While based in Oncology Medical, this role will be pivotal for shaping and optimizing our Medical ways of working across all four Categories of Pfizer Medical (Oncology, Internal Medicine and Primary Care, Inflammation & Immunology, and Specialized Care and Vaccines). The incumbent will also need to work closely with other parts of Pfizer Medical (Chief Medical Office, US Medical, International Medical) to ensure ongoing effective alignment of enterprise-level Medical ways of working.
* The incumbent will bring a strategic cross-category mindset, leading initiatives to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and strategic alignment in how our category medical teams operate globally, ensuring best practices are embedded and continuously improved.
* A highly visible position, the incumbent will work closely with the Global Medical Affairs Heads and Medical leaders across all four Categories. They will also work with key stakeholders from the Chief Medical Office, US Medical, International Medical and non-Medical partners (e.g., Clinical Development, Global Access and Value, etc.).
This secondment offers a unique chance to drive significant impact and contribute to the strategic evolution of our medical capabilities. This role will report into the Oncology Medical Head, Global Genitourinary Prostate in Oncology Medical.
HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT
This role is accountable & responsible for overseeing and ensuring operational execution of the following business activities:
* Lead the strategic communication and implementation of evolved Medical ways of working and operational methodologies during transition to business-as-usual.
* Oversee the continued successful deployment and adoption of the Global Medical Affairs Team (GMAT) Enablement Package across relevant functions.
* Develop, maintain, monitor and report on the effectiveness of the ways of working roll-out, using existing and new surveys and mechanisms. Based on these findings identified and suggest opportunities for continuous improvement, securing relevant senior buy-in (up to Pfizer Medical Steering Committee level) as necessary.
* Accountable for the delivery the Cross-Category GMAT Chair Forum to foster collaboration and alignment across diverse categories (e.g., ensure each meeting's delivery team is in place, coordinate senior stakeholder approval of agendas, coordinate logistics, etc.)
* Co-ordinate and ensure the effective functioning of all four Within-Category GMAT Chair forums, promoting best practice sharing, problem-solving and ensuring ongoing senior awareness across categories.
* Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and timely updates of category-relevant ways of working operational content on internal platforms (e.g., Medical Navigator).
* Drive the strategic planning and execution of ongoing cross-category face-to-face meetings and virtual events, maximizing engagement and knowledge exchange.
* Partner closely with People Experience and Training teams to integrate category-specific needs into broader organizational development and learning initiatives.
* Collaborate with the CMO Communications to coordinate and align cross-Medical communications, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
* Represent and advocate for category ways of working needs and insights within senior leadership forums, including the Pfizer Medical Steering Committee. Coordinate pre-reads, presentations and follow-ups for cross-Category ways of working agenda items at the Pfizer Medical Steering Committee.
* Prepare reliable, high-quality guidance, tools & frameworksthat contribute to GMAT productivity and performance, and effectively convey key messages to intended audiences.
* Cultivate and champion a strategic cross-categorymindset, ensuring that operational initiatives and ways of working promote synergy, consistency, and shared learning across all categories.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
* BA/BS with 8+ years of experience.
* Have a strong understanding of Medical Affairs, including medical strategies, disease areas, and objectives.
* Demonstrated ability to be a successful change agent working across disciplines in a complex global team.
* Clearly demonstrated ability to work effectively with a senior executive stakeholder base, and navigate competing organizational priorities.
* Clearly demonstrated ability to work within a matrix organization and collaborate effectively across the whole spectrum of Pfizer Medical Affairs and non-Medical Affairs relationships.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-Have
* MBA/MS with 7+ years of experience; OR PhD or JD with 5+ years of experience.
