Design Engineer Location: South London (On Site) Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum Yoh Solutions is partnering with a specialist engineering and manufacturing business that develops high-reliability products for demanding environments — from aerospace and defence through to nuclear, scientific, and optical applications. Their expertise lies in the packaging and protection of complex electronics, delivering robust electromechanical products and precision assemblies that must perform reliably in challenging conditions. The Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys variety, ownership, and close collaboration with manufacturing. You’ll be part of a small, agile design team where your ideas directly shape products that integrate electronics, mechanics, and precision housings. Key Responsibilities * Designing precision-machined metal parts and assemblies for electromechanical products. * Liaising daily with shop floor teams to resolve manufacturing challenges (assembly, welding, fabricating, brazing). * Managing your own customer projects, often involving small but technically critical modifications to existing designs. * Developing housings and enclosures for instrumentation, communication devices, scientific equipment, and other high-reliability electronic assemblies. * Producing detailed designs using 3D CAD (Inventor & Vault, or equivalent). About You * Strong mechanical design experience, ideally with electromechanical or precision product backgrounds. * Comfortable working closely with manufacturing and resolving shop floor issues. * Experience in packaging electronics into robust housings and assemblies. * Industry background in aerospace, defence, nuclear, or other high-reliability sectors is desirable. Why Join? You’ll be joining a company with a friendly, family-feel culture and a supportive, collaborative environment. They place a strong focus on professional development and training, with a proven track record of promoting from within. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to take full ownership of your work, play a key role in a small but highly capable design team, and broaden your skills across a wide range of projects and technologies. This is a full-time, onsite role (5 days per week) due to the nature of the products and design work.
