Job Title: Temporary Criminal Solicitor
Location: Sheffield S10
Duration: 4-6 Weeks initially / 2-3 days a week
Start Date: ASAP
Purpose of Role
The successful candidate will join the team to provide expert legal advice and representation for clients facing criminal charges. As a Temporary Criminal Solicitor, you will manage a varied caseload, ensuring the highest standards of professional conduct and client care.
Key Responsibilities
* Client Representation & Advice:
o Represent clients at the police station, Magistrates' and Crown Courts.
o Provide timely and expert legal advice on criminal law matters.
* Case Management:
o Prepare and manage cases for trial, including reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing legal documents.
o Ensure efficient and effective case progression from inception to conclusion.
* Court Appearances:
o Conduct advocacy in court when necessary.
o Instruct barristers and liaise with other professionals, as required.
* Communication:
o Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, keeping them informed of progress and developments.
o Collaborate closely with colleagues, sharing knowledge and assisting with cases as necessary.
* Compliance & Ethics:
o Adhere to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Code of Conduct and all firm policies.
o Ensure all work is compliant with data protection and confidentiality guidelines.
* Continuous Development:
o Stay updated with the latest changes in criminal law and practice.
o Attend relevant training sessions and seminars.
Qualifications and Skills Required
* Qualified Solicitor with a practising certificate.
* Experience in criminal law, preferably with a proven track record of successful case handling.
* Excellent advocacy and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high standards of client care.
