An exciting opportunity has arisen within the IBD Infusion Unit Clinical Nurse Specialist position. The successful candidate will work alongside the CNS and senior team to provide the highest quality care for our patients.
The IBD nurses work cross-site at Guys & St Thomas’ hospital sites to provide excellent care to our patients with a variety of inflammatory bowel disease conditions. The Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist will work within the nursing team and work amongst all specialities to provide a high standard of care for our outpatient and day case patients. The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, knowledgeable and confident to work as part of a small nursing team. You will contribute towards the efficient operation of the clinics, and be open to change as the service continues to grow and develop.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be working closely with the CNS nurses and senior team. You will be expected to undertake managerial duties and support all members of the team. You will also be able to manage the infusion unit, including all daily unit routines and any matters escalated to them.
The IBD Infusion Unit require to coordinating complex care for patients receiving biologic therapies, which require specialized knowledge and close monitoring. This enables continuity of care, timely patient assessment, management of infusion-related adverse events, and patient education, breach date targets, all of which are critical to optimizing treatment outcomes and safety.
The post has a weekly pre-screening and follow up clinic. Additionally, results are reviewed and ongoing investigations are ordered. A key element of the role is to provide senior nursing support for patients undergoing infusions, with up to 100 patients coming through the unit each week.

12. BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
13. Post registration qualification in or can demonstrate relevant experience and competence (appropriate area of speciality)
14. Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant area of speciality
15. RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
