Senior Scientist - Electrochemical Sensors

A leading innovation-driven organisation in the water technology sector is seeking a Senior Scientist to join its product development team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge biosensor technologies for detecting contaminants in drinking water, including PFAS (“forever chemicals”), emerging contaminants, and arsenic.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, modify, and characterize electrochemical sensors in a laboratory setting.
* Plan and execute research activities in collaboration with project managers and partners.
* Develop and apply techniques for data collection and analysis.
* Ensure the validity and reliability of experimental data.
* Maintain accurate records of research findings.
* Manage project subcontractors and collaborate with external partners.
* Travel for meetings, field trials, and project progress reviews as required.
* Prepare progress reports and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
* Undertake administrative tasks related to the project.
* Ensure compliance with organizational policies and maintain equipment safety.
Qualifications:
* PhD (or equivalent) in electrochemical sensors, biosensors, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience & Skills:
* Proven experience in the development, design, fabrication, and characterisation of electrochemical sensors.
* Strong background in academic or industrial research environments.
* Experience with electrochemistry instrumentation and aptamers is advantageous.
* Familiarity with enzyme or aptamer-based biosensors, enzyme kinetics, and advanced electrochemical techniques is desirable.
* Ability to conduct literature reviews, analyse experimental data, and develop new concepts.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritize work independently.
