Location: Waterbeach Lodge Care Home, Cambridge
Salary: £16.00 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts (including weekends and bank holidays as required)
About the Role:
Waterbeach Lodge Care Home is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our friendly catering team on a full-time basis (35 hours per week).
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals that support the health and well-being of our residents. Your food will do more than nourish — it will provide comfort, enjoyment, and a sense of routine to those in our care.
You'll be part of a welcoming, supportive team committed to high standards in care and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and serve high-quality meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences
* Maintain stock levels and ensure kitchen is fully supplied
* Uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards, ensuring full compliance with food safety regulations
* Supervise kitchen assistants where required
* Record temperatures and complete kitchen documentation in line with health and safety procedures
* Create a positive dining experience for residents and visitors alike
What We’re Looking For:
* A genuine passion for cooking and creating homely, nourishing meals
* Experience working as a Chef, preferably in a care home, healthcare, or similar setting
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (required)
* City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent in Professional Cookery (desirable)
* Knowledge of special diets and texture-modified meals (an advantage)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A caring, patient, and respectful attitude towards older people
* Flexible approach to shift patterns and weekend working
