Senior Engineer – Ground Investigation

This is a standout opportunity for a skilled professional to lead complex ground investigation projects and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, risk-managed technical solutions.
The Role
As Senior Engineer, you will oversee a variety of geotechnical and geological investigation projects, providing expert technical direction while ensuring industry standards and safety requirements are consistently met. You will mentor junior team members, maintain strong relationships with clients, and contribute strategically to project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage ground investigation projects from planning to completion.
* Deliver technical training and mentorship to graduate and project-level engineers.
* Implement and monitor quality assurance processes across all site activities and reporting.
* Coordinate reporting programmes and ensure timely delivery of client documentation.
* Assist with Health & Safety documentation, including Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
* Collect, validate, and log geotechnical and geological data.
* Interpret site information to develop factual logs and initial ground models.
* Produce high-quality factual, GIR and interpretative reports.
* Support project scheduling, resource allocation and tender preparation.
* Monitor specialist equipment usage, maintenance and calibration needs.
About You
Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of ground investigation techniques, soil mechanics and geology.
* Familiarity with industry specifications, standards and contract documents (ICC GI, NEC3/4).
* Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations (essential).
* Understanding of staff management principles (desirable).

Experience:
* Significant experience within the ground investigation industry.
* Proven track record managing both small and large ground investigation projects.
* Experience managing key stakeholders including clients and subcontractors.
* Strong background producing factual, GIR and interpretative reports to high standards.
Qualifications:
* Degree level (or above) in a relevant engineering, geotechnical or geological discipline.

* c. £45,000 depending on experience
