An exciting opportunity has become available at St. Saviour's Church of England Junior School. The post is a permanent contract and will be for 25 hours in term time, plus three additional weeks to be mutually arranged in the school holidays.
We are looking for someone with experience in maintaining premises or has worked in one of the construction trades. Experience and knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH legislation is desirable. The successful applicant would assist the Site Manager in all aspects of running the school site. The work includes maintenance work and ensuring the health and safety of our children and staff. You would be expected to carry out routine work on the school site and helping to arrange external trades to carry out any more involved work. There are daily, weekly and yearly health and safety checks (fire safety, legionella, PAT testing, fixed wiring checks, tree surveys, play equipment). We are looking for someone who is trustworthy, dependable and organised. We are a welcoming, well-resourced school with a skilled staff team and lovely children.
Working hours will be 1.00pm until 6.00pm Mon - Fri.
The 6.00pm finish is a vital part of the role as you will responsible for locking-up the school at the end of the working day.
The successful candidate will:
1. Be committed to working within a team to deliver the best possible outcomes for the children and staff
2. Have experience in basic maintenance and groundskeeping work - have practical skills
3. Have experience of Health and Safety record keeping and emails
4. Be reliable and trustworthy
5. Knowledge of Health and Safety and/or COSHH best practice
6. Clean driving licence
At least one interview panel member will be trained in safer recruitment and all offers of employment are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
