Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant to join our team of an established family run haulage business.
The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the day to day operations supporting the accounts department by managing accounts payable, processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with various accounting tasks. This position requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of financial principles, and is ideal for someone who is looking to develop their skills in a dynamic environment.
Duties
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Sage 50
* Assist in managing accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
* Process invoices and reconcile discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices.
* Support the Accountant in the preparation of monthly financial reports
* Support the local payroll function
* Posting all sales and purchase invoices
* Working with customers and suppliers
* Payments and receipts
* Spreadsheets for credit cards, petty cash control and expenses
* Spreadsheets for POD and delivery volumes for customers
* Credit control
* Perform general administrative duties related to the finance department as required.
Skills
* Previous experience in a bookkeeping/accounts role or similar position is essential.
* Knowledge and familiarity with Sage 50 and Sage payroll
* Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills are essential for success in this role.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with colleagues and suppliers effectively.
* Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
