Are you driven to support vulnerable children and make a meaningful impact in their lives? We are looking for a dedicated Attendance Officer to join Walsall's School Attendance Support Service within the Prevention and Reintegration team. This role is pivotal in collaborating with schools, families, and various professionals to ensure children receive their full educational rights and achieve optimal outcomes. You will be instrumental in aiding children at risk of poor attendance or disengagement from education, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with schools in Walsall to support and challenge them in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities, focusing on attendance, elective home education, permanent exclusions, and children missing from education.
* Advocate for the educational needs of vulnerable children, ensuring access to quality education and support for their full potential.
* Work directly with children, families, and schools to develop personalized support and intervention strategies.
* Ensure alternative provisions are suitable, meet statutory requirements, and align with the aspirations of students disengaged from mainstream education.
* Manage a caseload, maintaining accurate and timely records according to service policies.
* Conduct home visits and determine visit frequency based on the child's needs.
* Participate in multi-agency meetings, including Child in Need, Early Help, and assessment meetings.
* Consider SEND legislation and the Code of Practice in all aspects of your work.
