Whitby Lobster Hatchery
are looking to add to their amazing team of regular volunteers to help out with daily operations. From feeds, to counts and much more, this is an incredibly unique opportunity to gain some hands-on conservation experience.
Finding marine science experience can be very difficult. If you're looking to study/work in the field, this will look great on a CV
We are hoping to find individuals that can volunteer their time regularly, one day a week.
Please note, the work is sometimes physically demanding, involves direct contact with sea water and marine animals, and the use of various chemicals. We cannot offer accommodation/transport, volunteers will have to make their own way. Please take these factors into account before your application.
Responsibilities
Counting Lobster Larvae, Cleaning Hatchery Systems, Hen Lobster Husbandry, Feeding and Food Preparation, General Maintenance and more
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required, but the applicant should be:
* One with a keen interest in local marine life and a passion for conservation.
* Enthusiastic about hands-on aquaculture.
* A thorough and efficient individual who can handle multiple overlapping tasks.
* Reliable and dedicated to their time at the hatchery.
* Comfortable working with seawater, life animals and chemicals.
