To work as part of the ROCU Sensitive Intelligence Unit consisting of Police officers and Police staff whose focus is on disrupting organised crime in the Wales Region by utilising a wide range of overt and covert tactics, legislation and powers from across Law enforcement.


Responsibilities

* To liaise with investigative teams to identify and refine intelligence requirements (the intelligence gap) while protecting the specific covert techniques. You must be able to understand and have a personal knowledge of covert techniques and their application to proactive and reactive investigations, including applicable legal and regulatory constraints. You must be able to task and brief the Covert Advisor to enable them to apply their expertise to identify the optimal covert techniques.
* To receive and process IPA 2016 material and other covertly sourced intelligence, including time sensitive intelligence, in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) (including categorisation) of the originating agency. You must be able to record, store and manage intelligence in accordance with the Information Handling Process in a way which is appropriate to its source, sensitivity and security classification (including categorisation and re-categorisation of intelligence). You must be able to assess the sensitivity and reliability of received intelligence in line with the Information Handling Process (including categorisation and re-categorisation of intelligence) and ensure items of intelligence are shared across the law enforcement community unless there is an overriding reason not to do so.
* You must be able to record and manage information to ensure that intelligence-only products are kept separate from items of intelligence from the evidential side of an investigation. You must be able to adjust information handling in response to threat to life situations, in accordance with policy and guidance and local (SOPs).


Information handling and vetting

This role will require the successful candidate to undergo DV and NCA enhanced vetting.


Location and work arrangements

The role will be based in Stratford, London.


Hours, pay and benefits

The normal hours of work for this role are 37 hours per week. This position attracts a 14% shift allowance and a weekend enhancement payment in accordance with the rota.
