St Cuthbert’s RC High School is a large and vibrant Catholic secondary school serving the community of Rochdale. It joined the St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust (STOCCAT) in November 2023 and works within a growing family of schools across the Diocese of Salford. The school seeks a Headteacher to lead the journey of transition, development, and growth within the Trust.
Role purpose and responsibilities
In a STOCCAT secondary school, the Headteacher is a Catholic mission leader responsible for driving school improvement, safeguarding, curriculum excellence, and staff development, while embodying the Trust’s Gospel mission: “Make Christ Known; Make Lives Better.” You will be supported by a highly experienced Chief Performance Officer and a Regional Improvement Officer. You will lead improvement planning, engage in performance dialogue, and ensure the school is prepared for Ofsted and Catholic Schools Inspectorate visits.
Specific responsibilities
Lead the school in line with the STOCCAT mission and values; ensure high standards of teaching and learning; oversee safeguarding, curriculum development, and staff development; contribute to strategic planning and performance management within the Trust.

* Be a confident communicator, with excellent written and oral skills to engage effectively with all stakeholders.
* Demonstrate significant leadership experience in managing teams and resources.
* Have proven experience in leading and managing staff, including the ability to support and motivate staff and work within complex staffing cultures.
* Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring effective decision-making to drive school improvement.
* Work well under pressure, maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
