Thames Water Bio-Recycling - Agricultural Recycling Manager
Thames Water Bio-Recycling is the UK's largest recycler of biosolids, processing over 750,000 tonnes annually. We are seeking a dedicated Agricultural Recycling Manager to oversee biosolids recycling operations in Essex, managing safety, efficiency, and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop a dispersed technical team to meet performance targets.
2. Ensure a safe working environment, adhering to HR policies, with strict H&S management.
3. Coach, train, and mentor team members.
4. Manage the recycling of sewage sludge to agricultural clients within your area.
5. Build and maintain relationships with farmers, landowners, and rural communities.
6. Liaise with environmental agencies and local authorities to minimize environmental and public impact.
7. Coordinate with the wider recycling team for operational efficiency and financial performance.
8. Oversee land sourcing, maintaining a land bank for recycling needs.
9. Manage sales processes, including advising on fertilizer use, land suitability, and permit management via TDS software.
10. Develop and update procedures to improve performance and compliance.
11. Plan strategically to optimize workflow and financial control.
Candidate Requirements
* Background in agriculture with rural practice knowledge; sales experience is advantageous.
* Confident communication with farmers, agronomists, and contractors.
* Organized, adaptable, and self-managed.
* Knowledge of current agricultural legislation, e.g., Nitrates Directive, Cross-Compliance.
* FACTS or BASIS training is a plus.
Additional Information
This is a field-based role covering Essex, requiring a driver’s license (company van provided). Working hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday.
