Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

We provide services Across New Victoria ACH, WGACH, Stobhill ACH, Stobhill Mental Health (Forensic, Adolescent and Adult/Older Persons) and Community locations across the North and East of Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire. The community locations includes 3 Ambulance Stations, Decontamination Unit, 12 Health Centres and 8 resource centres with approximately 360 staff.

This role will undertake the Supervision of staff cleaning patient areas, clinical and non-clinical departments, offices and administration areas to comply with NHS national standards of cleanliness, mop laundering and porter/messenger services within the health care environment. Responsibilities will include for example, allocating staff resources, auditing of services, input payroll information, plan and carry out staff training, liaise with service users and department leads. This is a working supervisor role where carrying out of cleaning tasks is included in the role.

No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the or Health and Care Worker visa. routes. For Band 3 roles, only posts of 32 hours per week or more may meet eligibility. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for roles that do not meet these criteria, and applications requiring sponsorship will not be considered.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

1. Location based in Kirkintilloch Health Centre
2. Permanent Contract
3. Part-time position (19.44 hours per week)
4. Shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday, 16:30 - 20:30

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key responsibilities:

5. Supervise and assist in all aspects of integrated services ensuring work schedules are followed
6. Supervise staff to ensure they maintain safe systems of work
7. Ensure high standards of personal and general food hygiene are achieved throughout the department
8. Report any faults to line manager
9. Ensure staff only use equipment/materials as instructed
10. Supervise staff to ensure they work in a safe manner and give consideration to others around them
11. Counsel staff regarding work performance and document outcomes
12. Assist in the organisation of staff rotas
13. Help to arrange cover for staff absence
14. Carry out and assist staff with PDP process
15. Deal with client complaints in the first instance
16. Ensure self assessment is carried out
17. Ensure team briefs are held
18. Ensure all paperwork associated with the position is completed within prescriptive timescales
19. Ensure all statutory and Divisional procedures are followed

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

20. Knowledge of all aspects of Integrated Service as in job purpose (Induction training provided)
21. Training in the use of all machinery used (Training provided)
22. Knowledge of Health and Safety (Training provided)
23. Knowledge of COSHH (Training provided)
24. Knowledge of Lifting and Handling (Training provided)
25. Basic Food Hygiene certificate (Training provided)
26. Knowledge of Infection Control practices (Training provided)Supervisory training (training provided)
27. Driving licence is desirable
