We're currently working with a leading Legal 500 firm based in Oxford that's seeking an exceptional Commercial Partner. Your responsibilities will include:
* Advise clients on a wide range of commercial matters, including contracts, supply and distribution agreements, licensing, agency, franchising, outsourcing, and joint ventures.
* Lead and manage complex and high-value commercial transactions across various sectors.
* Provide strategic legal and commercial advice to clients on risk management, regulatory compliance, and operational issues.
* Supervise and mentor junior team members, supporting their development and ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
* Build and grow client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and maintaining a strong external profile.
* Drive business development initiatives, contributing to the growth and profitability of the commercial practice.
* Collaborate with other departments, particularly corporate, IP/IT, data protection, and dispute resolution teams, on multi-disciplinary matters.
* Contribute to the strategic leadership of the firm or department, including financial performance, team structure, and client offering.
* Keep abreast of legal developments and market trends to ensure clients receive cutting-edge advice.
* Represent the firm at client events, industry panels, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
The successful candidate:
* Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 8 + years PQE in commercial law.
* Extensive experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of commercial agreements ( supply, distribution, franchising, outsourcing, licensing).
* Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide strategic, solution-focused advice to a diverse client base.
* Proven experience managing complex transactions and client relationships across various industries.
* Demonstrable leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising junior lawyers.
* A track record of successful business development, client retention, and contributing to practice growth.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly to clients and colleagues.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across corporate, IP/IT, data protection, and disputes teams.
* Commercially driven and entrepreneurial mindset, with an interest in contributing to firm strategy.
