Wolviston Management Services are proud to be supporting our client, a respected name in the heavy engineering sector, in the recruitment of an experienced Plater to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale structural steel projects within a fast-paced and safety-conscious environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of fabrication practices and the ability to work from detailed engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret and work from engineering drawings to fabricate heavy steel components (5mm–100mm plate)
Carry out heat straightening, grinding, and structural plate preparation
Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely and efficiently
Use grinders and consumables in line with HAVS regulations
Adhere to all company HSEQ procedures and participate actively in training and development activities
Meet production targets and deadlines without compromising safety or quality
Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
Support the team with any other duties reasonably required Requirements:
Time-served Plater with NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Plating or Structural Steelwork (trade test required)
Proven experience in heavy engineering environments
Excellent understanding of plating codes, standards, and best practices
Confident in using overhead cranes, slinging, and associated lifting techniques
Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting
Positive attitude and proactive approach to work and safety
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
