Are you a Housing Officer looking to make a difference? Do you have a passion for Specialist Housing or Supported Living? We have an opportunity for a Retirement Housing Officer to join our Specialist Housing team based at Cathedral Park Retirement Village, Hereford, with occasional travel to Platform Housing offices when required for training. This is a full‑time role, working 35 hours per week Monday – Friday alongside 2 part‑time Retirement Housing Officer colleagues. There is an expectation to work as a team to ensure the service is manned 9am‑5pm Monday to Friday; therefore we are looking for someone who is a team player and offers flexibility to cover colleagues during planned and unplanned absence. Cathedral Park is a brand new‑build Retirement Village, comprising 80 x 1 and 2‑bed apartments for over 55s. Cathedral Park also offers 3 x commercial units within the Village (a shop, salon and café) which are leased externally. The Retirement Housing Officers will work closely with the leaseholders of these units to monitor compliance with health and safety and to work collaboratively to deliver service which meets the needs of the customers at Cathedral Park and the wider public.
Responsibilities
* Provide a housing and tenancy management service to maximise tenancy sustainment, acting as a regular and flexible customer contact for residents.
* Provide practical and preventative support and advice to residents, signposting to specialist care and support services to maximise wellbeing, social interaction and minimise isolation.
* Provide effective building management, including property inspections, risk assessments, H&S monitoring and compliance checks.
* Respond, investigate and take timely action to reported breaches of tenancy agreements.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience of working in a customer‑facing role in a housing organisation or with older people in a community/retirement housing.
* Customer‑focused mindset, with experience of solving complex issues for customers.
* Awareness of working with vulnerable adults is desirable.
* Knowledge of TEC alarm systems and fire alarm systems, such as Le Grand and Appello, is desirable.
* Great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
* Keen to deliver high standards with an ability to seek continual improvement.
* Confidence using digital devices, ICT software and systems.
* Driving licence and use of own vehicle required for travel; must be based in Herefordshire.
* Enhanced DBS check required for this role.
