The provision is committed to helping pupils re-engage with learning through a nurturing, trauma-informed approach that focuses on improving wellbeing, building resilience, and supporting successful reintegration into mainstream education wherever possible.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-led organisation with a strong moral purpose and a highly supportive leadership team. Staff benefit from excellent professional development opportunities and the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable learners.

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Learning to join the Executive Leadership Team.

This is a senior strategic role for an experienced educational leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality, inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and barriers to mainstream education.

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight of the quality of education, curriculum implementation, inclusion, and pupil outcomes across multiple provisions. Working closely with the Executive Headteacher, Heads of School, and curriculum leaders, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering an ambitious, sustainable, and adaptive curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide strategic leadership for curriculum design, quality of education, and inclusion.
2. Drive school improvement through effective monitoring, evaluation, and evidence-informed practice.
3. Lead the development of ambitious and accessible curriculum pathways, including vocational and reintegration routes.
4. Oversee teaching quality, assessment, progress tracking, and pupil outcomes.
5. Line manage and support Heads of School and curriculum leaders.
6. Champion inclusive, trauma-informed, and relational practice.
7. Use data intelligently to inform strategic decision-making.
8. Contribute to safeguarding, risk management, and statutory compliance.
9. Build partnerships with schools, further education providers, and external agencies.
10. Play a central role in Ofsted inspections, governance reporting, and accountability processes.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Director of Learning, you will:

11. Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS).
12. Have significant senior leadership experience at a strategic level.
13. Demonstrate a strong track record of improving curriculum quality and pupil outcomes.
14. Have in-depth knowledge of SEND, SEMH, and alternative provision.
15. Possess a strong understanding of assessment, progress, and data-driven improvement.
16. Have proven experience leading and developing staff teams.
17. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
18. Be resilient, calm, and solution-focused.
19. Show a clear commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, and qualifications.
