An exciting opportunity has arisen within Surgical Specialties at Aintree University Hospital for a Unit Manager position on the Surgical Assessment Unit.
The Surgical Assessment Unit comprises SAU seats and 27-bedded bays with 2 side rooms. We facilitate effective flow through our Emergency Department to assist in decompressing the department and alleviating pressures and demand. We deliver direct conveyancing to our assessment areas, accept referrals directly from GPs, and have patients returning for surgical review.
You will have managerial responsibility for 35 staff members and will report directly to the Matron and Assistant Director of Nursing.

You will strive for the highest standards of quality care, with patient safety at the forefront. You will be supported by the Matron and a dedicated team of medical and nursing staff.

The post holder will be responsible for managing the ward/department over 24 hours, ensuring high standards of nursing care. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating care programs, providing effective leadership, and managing staff development.
The post holder will always work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.
