Elementa Support Services is pleased to partner with a valued education organisation to find a dedicated Contract Caretaker for their secondary academy in Melksham, Wiltshire. Position Overview
Our client is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their dedicated facilities team on a contract basis. The role commences in January 2026, with the potential for extension, providing stability and continuity within a supportive school setting.
Role Responsibilities
General maintenance and upkeep of school premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff
Security management, including opening and closing the site, monitoring access, and ensuring security protocols are followed
Health and safety compliance, conducting regular checks and reporting any issues promptly
Assisting with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as required
Supporting the external and internal cleanliness and organisation of the site
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate with
Previous experience as a Caretaker, ideally within an educational setting or similar facility-managed environment
A demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, security, and presentation
Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Good communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently as needed

Salary: £13.69 – £17 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications
Type: Contract (possible extension)
Environment: Academy-Secondary, with a team of 36-65 staff members
