Overview

We are seeking a nurturing, adaptable, and motivated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with pupils who are currently attending school on a reduced timetable. This role is crucial in supporting these children to re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and have positive, meaningful experiences within the school environment. You will work under the direction of the SENDCo providing 1:1 and small group support as part of our SEND and pastoral team, helping pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to return to full time school participation.

You will collaborate with our wider teaching team to create a nurturing and structured environment. We are looking for someone eager to learn, implement innovative strategies, and demonstrate patience and empathy. A proven ability to build trusting relationships with students and promote readiness to learn is desirable. Experience or understanding of supporting pupils with social, emotional or mental health needs is highly desirable; an understanding of inclusion and trauma-informed practice would be beneficial.


Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small group support under the direction of the SENDCo.
* Help pupils re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and participate in school activities.
* Collaborate with the SEND and pastoral team to create a safe, welcoming, and structured learning environment.
* Implement appropriate strategies to support readiness to learn and inclusive practice.


Qualifications and Skills

* Desirable: experience supporting pupils with social, emotional or mental health needs.
* Desirable: understanding of inclusion and trauma-informed practice.
* Strong communication, patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
* Eager to learn and implement innovative strategies.


Details

* Location: St Michael's CE Primary Academy
* Position Type: Teaching/Child Support, Part-time, Fixed-term
* Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 1:00pm
* Salary: Actual salary starts at £12,235 per annum
* Start Date: 16/11/2025
