Join Our Energy Team – Control & Automation Engineer We’re looking for software-focused engineers to design and deliver PLC/SCADA systems that power the UK’s renewable energy and storage infrastructure. From upgrades and extensions to full turnkey builds, you’ll work across the full project lifecycle as part of a collaborative, future-ready team.
What You’ll Do
* Design and implement PLC, SCADA and/or DCS control systems
* Develop specs, write code (IEC 61131), and support testing & commissioning
* Configure hardware and software (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, COPA-DATA, WinCC and more)
* Travel to customer sites when needed to assess, implement, or improve systems
What You’ll Bring
* 5+ years of experience with modern PLC/SCADA tools (e.g. PCS7, TIA Portal, FactoryTalk, Zenon, EcoStruxure)
* Ability to write technical documentation and program using ladder, FBD, SFC, and structured text
* Understanding of control system lifecycles, QA processes, and field commissioning
* Familiarity with comms protocols (Modbus, Profibus, IEC 61850, etc.) and virtualised environments (VMWare, HyperV)
* Confidence, curiosity, and a flexible, team-first mindset
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable Skills
* Exposure to domains like Windows Server, network config, simulation tools (e.g. SIMIT), or legacy platforms
* Experience in renewables, grid-scale energy storage, or large infrastructure projects
