Plant Operator
Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with a client operating within the energy and industrial processing sector to appoint a skilled Plant Operator. The role of a Plant Operator is central to the safe and efficient operation of a high-performing plant environment, with responsibility for monitoring steam generation systems, turbines, and associated equipment. The successful Plant Operator will be technically capable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a dynamic, shift-based operational setting.
Key Responsibilities of a Plant Operator
* Operate and oversee boilers, turbines, and control systems to maintain efficient and consistent plant output.
* Monitor plant performance through control panels, instrumentation, and on-site inspections, responding proactively to system variations or faults.
* Accurately record operational data, performance metrics, and shift handover information.
* React effectively to alarms, breakdowns, and both planned and emergency maintenance activities to ensure plant safety and continuity.
* Support wider plant operations as required, including material handling, waste movement, and maintaining high housekeeping standards across the site.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience or working knowledge of boiler systems, steam turbines, or similar industrial plant environments.
* A strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards within operational or process-driven settings.
* Competence working in physically demanding environments, including at height and within confined spaces.
* Experience operating plant machinery such as forklifts or loading equipment is advantageous.
* A proactive team player with clear communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
