Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Rochester – On-site (work from home ½ day Friday)
Role Type: Permanent
Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Rochester, requires an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.
What the role of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will include:
* Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs, and other engineering details for internal review and in customer forums.
* Peer review work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, design data, hand calculations, and technical reports.
* Chair design review panels at functional and project levels, both internally and with customers.
* Prepare project plans, direct a team in their implementation, and monitor and report progress, budgets, and resources.
* Devise and maintain resource plans, and manage allocation of Mechanical Engineering resources to meet project demands.
* Prepare estimates for new bids and support proposal generation and documentation.
* Conduct Performance and Development Reviews and contribute to Salary Reviews for the Mechanical Engineering Team.
* Ensure adherence to departmental and company policies by Mechanical Team members and project teams.
Experience required:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
* Proven track record in product development from concept to production within an engineering environment.
* Previous team leadership and project management experience.
* Experience in areas like avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, anthropometrics, composites, additive manufacturing, testing, and measurement equipment.
* Experience preparing technical datasets (drawings/MBD).
* Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably CREO, and experience with TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA is advantageous.
