The Cardiology Department at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offers a range of high-quality cardiology and respiratory diagnostic procedures to the residents of Barnsley and surrounding areas, including inpatient, outpatient, and direct access referrals from General Practitioners.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, efficient, and motivated Cardio-respiratory Physiologist to join our busy department at Band 5 level. This role includes further training for progression to band 6 and band 7 levels once accreditation is achieved with either The British Society of Echocardiography or The British Heart Rhythm Society.
Candidates must have, or be in year 3 of, the BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) Degree, or equivalent.

Main duties of the job
The post holder must be suitably qualified to a high standard, as this work directly impacts patient treatment and safety.
The role includes providing clinical technical services such as routine ECG, exercise tolerance testing (supervised by a doctor and physiologist), 24-hour ambulatory monitoring, angiography, spirometry, pulse oximetry, and full lung function testing. Procedures involve exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances and frequent contact with body odours, fluids, and secretions. Training in echocardiography and pacing services to accreditation level is included.
You will analyze and assess test results against acceptability criteria, work within professional policies and protocols without direct supervision, and maintain data entry and management on various systems such as Tomcat, MUSE, McKesson Cardiology System, and Sentinel. Occasional creation of spreadsheets may be required.
You will liaise with other healthcare professionals, maintain good relations, and provide advice as needed. You may be asked to perform other duties relevant to the post from time to time.

Qualifications
* HNC/HND (MPPM) degree or equivalent experience in cardiology.
* ASCST Part I and II.
