Role Overview
The M&E Construction Manager represents the Main Contractor in overseeing and managing the Tier 1 M&E Contractor on a live data centre construction project. The role is focused on ensuring that all mechanical and electrical works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget, and to the high technical and commissioning standards required for mission-critical environments.
This position acts as the primary coordination point between the Main Contractor, M&E Contractor, client technical team, consultants, and commissioning specialists, ensuring seamless integration of all MEP systems with CSA works.
Key Responsibilities
The M&E Construction Manager leads day-to-day oversight of all mechanical and electrical installations, including HV/LV systems, UPS, generators, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, BMS, fire detection and suppression systems. You will monitor installation progress against programme milestones, challenge contractor sequencing where necessary, and ensure alignment with overall project delivery strategy.
A major part of the role involves enforcing high health and safety standards, reviewing and approving RAMS, and managing high-risk activities such as energisation and major plant installations. You will chair coordination meetings, resolve technical queries, manage RFIs and design changes, and ensure works comply fully with employer’s requirements and design specifications.
Quality control is critical on data centre projects. You will oversee inspections, ITP implementation, snagging processes, and progressive sign-off. Close involvement in commissioning is required, including coordination of Level 1–5 commissioning activities, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and client witnessing. Ensuring complete and accurate handover documentation, including O&M manuals and as-built records, is essential.
You will also maintain commercial awareness by supporting valuation assessments, identifying change events, managing risk exposure, and contributing to recovery strategies where programme pressure exists.

Candidates should have a strong mechanical or electrical background with significant experience managing M&E packages on large-scale or mission-critical projects.
