We are seeking experienced and motivated Phlebotomists to join our Staff Bank to support GP practices across Cornwall. Working on a flexible, as‑needed basis, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective blood sample collection services, contributing to timely diagnosis and ongoing patient care. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within different practice settings, adapting to local systems and processes while maintaining high clinical standards.
* Perform venepuncture in line with clinical guidelines and best practice
* Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and reassurance throughout procedures
* Confirm patient identity and obtain informed consent
* Label, store, and prepare samples accurately for laboratory testing
* Ensure samples are dispatched promptly in line with protocols
* Maintain accurate clinical records clinical systems
* Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
* Report clinical concerns or anomalies appropriately
* Work collaboratively with teams to support service delivery, shifts are offered on an ad hoc basis depending on service need
* You will be expected to maintain mandatory training and competencies. Recognised training/qualification in phlebotomy.
* Previous experience in a primary care or similar setting
* Ability to work independently and adapt to different practice environments
* Experience using clinical systems
* Strong communication and patient care skills
* Flexible and reliable approach to work
