Are you a Project Manager who still thinks like an Engineer?
I am currently partnering with Legacy Manufacturing Solutions, a high-growth engineering consultancy in Rugby that is currently scaling from £4m to £20m turnover. They don’t do "standard" construction or cookie-cutter builds. They specialise in high-spec, turnkey capital projects for blue-chip manufacturing clients, think complex process engineering, M&E installations, and factory refurbs where "Detail is King."
The Challenge: Beyond the Timeline
Legacy is looking for a PM with Mechanical DNA. They don't need someone to just manage a spreadsheet; they need a technical lead who can truly own the "how" of a project. You will be expected to walk onto a client’s site, identify legislative gaps or process inefficiencies, and lead the technical strategy to fix them.
What you will be doing:
* Technical Consultancy: Conducting site audits and GAP analyses on Life Safety Systems (Fire Strategy, Asbestos, Emergency Lighting) and presenting engineering solutions to client boards.
* Design Literacy: Using AutoCAD/SolidWorks to resolve design clashes on-site and ensure installations match "as-built" requirements.
* High-Stakes Delivery: Managing the full project lifecycle of complex M&E and process systems, ensuring a zero-snag handover.
* Strategic Planning: Maintaining a disciplined Ř-week look ahead" to manage material lead times and labour sequencing with surgical precision.
The Profile Required:
We are looking for:
* Engineering Roots: A background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering. You likely started in design or applications engineering.
* Sector Experience: Proven track record in turnkey CAPEX projects within construction, manufacturing, Food & Bev, Pharma, Automotive, or heavy industrial sectors.
* Legislative Grip: A strong understanding of CDM 2015 and UK British Standards (BS/ISO).
* The Consultant Mindset: The ability to map out "as-is" versus "to-be" processes for clients.
Why this role is different:
Legacy is an engineering-led business, not a corporate machine. You will have total autonomy over your projects and a clear career trajectory as the company triples in size. This is a hands-on, technical peer role where your engineering expertise is the primary tool for success.
Note: This role involves regular travel across the UK and Ireland to maintain Legacy’s high standards on-site.
If you are tired of "surface-level" project management and want to get back to the nuts and bolts of engineering delivery, I want to speak with you
