Immigration Department Background:
Our immigration team is one of the largest in the UK, ranked highly by The Legal 500. We specialize in various immigration law areas, including asylum, human rights, nationality, and business immigration, serving high net worth individuals, businesses, and skilled workers. Comprising over 160 lawyers, many trained as barristers, our team handles complex cases including appeals in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, and cases involving asylum, trafficking, and domestic abuse victims.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
* Report directly to the Department Director
* Manage all aspects of immigration work, providing technical expertise and guidance
* Supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
* Assist with training and development within the department
* Handle a variety of immigration cases, including detention, trafficking, asylum, entry clearance, and judicial review
* Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
* Draft documents, witness statements, and process evidence
* Prepare applications for Home Office requirements
* Attend conferences and court proceedings
* Maintain a professional, proactive approach with strong client care and business development skills
Key Skills Required:
* Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation (membership desirable)
* Highly motivated and committed
* Valid Practising Certificate at the time of application
* Team player with leadership and referral skills
* Supervisory experience with KPIs
* Excellent client care, especially with vulnerable clients
* Strong networking and marketing skills
* Knowledge of publicly funded and privately funded immigration work
* Extensive immigration law experience, including advocacy (advantageous)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management
