Forge Talent are currently working with a logistics business in Merseyside who are seeking a Credit Controller to join the team. This role is central to managing customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments, and maintaining strong working relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders. This position plays a vital role in safeguarding cash flow and reducing aged debt while supporting the finance team in maintaining accurate records and delivering excellent service to customers. The successful candidate will be proactive in chasing overdue accounts, resolving disputes, and contributing to the smooth running of the receivables function. Main duties Monitor customer accounts and ensure payments are received in line with agreed terms. Proactively contact customers by phone and email to chase overdue invoices. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients to encourage prompt payment and resolve outstanding issues. Investigate and resolve invoice queries in collaboration with the sales, operations, and finance teams. Produce regular aged debt reports and provide updates to the Finance Manager. Escalate problem accounts where necessary and support with legal or recovery actions if required. Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate allocation of receipts. Contribute to month-end reporting by preparing debtor information and analysis. Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen credit control processes. Skills & experience Previous experience in a credit control or collections role. Strong communication and negotiation skills with a professional telephone manner. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively. High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail. Competence with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel); knowledge of ERP or accounting systems is advantageous.
