This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Town Planner to join the successful Land and Planning Team at Persimmon Homes West Scotland. As Head of Planning, you will be responsible for all town planning matters within the Division. This will involve leading on planning applications of varying scales and complexity to ensure a steady pipeline of new sites and to oversee planning policy. This role will have contact with consultants, local planning authorities, stakeholders and local communities. The role would suit an experienced Planning Manager, Senior Planner or Planner who is looking to take the next step in their career. Reporting to the Land Director, the role will include: Producing planning assessments for new site appraisals Lead on all planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharging of planning conditions and S75 agreements Oversee the master planning of new sites and liaise with layout designers, engineers and external consultants Prepare and commissions planning statements and a range of other planning documents required to support applications Organise and attend stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism Coordinate and prepare responses to consultations on new and emerging local and national planning policy On occasion provide assistance to the Managing Director when making key business decisions and attend regular regional meetings as the relevant subject expert Provide mentoring and training junior members of the team What we need from you? Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management / development planning. For example, in a Local Authority, Planning Consultancy or with Housebuilder/Developer Degree / Masters in Town Planning with an RTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of town planning Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under pressure. Proactive and willingness to take the lead on own initiative and under minimal supervision Excellent verbal communication skills Full UK driving licence What's in it for you?
