Cromwell Hospital, Kensington SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)
Bank rate £80 Per hour
Shift patterns – Long Days 07:30 to 21:00 / Early 07:45 to 15:45 / Late 13:00 to 21:00

You’ll help us make health happen by:
As an SCP you will work as a member of the surgical team and perform surgical interventions and pre-operative and post-operative care under the supervision of a senior surgeon (RCSE).
You will also be expected to undertake the role of SFA in addition to the SCP role.
The SFA is a registered healthcare professional who provides continuous competent and dedicated assistance under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon throughout the procedure, whilst not performing any form of surgical interventions (PCC, 2012). You must have completed the SFA/ASP course.
You will work collaboratively with cardiac consultant surgeons, essential skills required are Endoscopic including radial vein harvesting, vein harvesting and Surgical assistance when required in cardiac procedures
What you’ll do:
1. Work with the medical teams to deliver the care required within the patients’ treatment under the direction of the Consultant Surgeons
2. Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the full potential of this role is utilised.
3. Be an independent holistic practitioner, delivering care during the peri-operative period and acting as the patient’s advocate.
4. Lead specialist and to practice autonomously in the absence of medical staff e.g., final wound closure following surgery etc.
5. Trained and assessed as fully competent in the skills and activities required of the role to ensure that a high quality of patient care is maintained.
6. Manage a team of SCPs and SFA across specialties.
7. Play a key part in developing the robotic service at Cromwell in line with organisational strategy.
8. Assist in all aspects of the surgical speciality as required, liaising with members of the surgical team in the delivery of care.
9. Use specialist knowledge and skills to integrate assessment findings, to plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care for own caseload, which is delegated to them e.g., clinician-led clinics against agreed protocols.
10. Act as a member of the extended surgical team, to perform surgical interventions, pre-operative and post-operative care under the direction and supervision of a Consultant Surgeon and according to departmental protocols and procedures.
11. Establish effective working relationships with other professionals whose role impinges on the service e.g., anaesthetic team, Allied Health Professionals, and theatre teams.
12. Demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in the speciality and to share this with others to positively influence patient care.

13. RN 1st level registration – NMC registration
14. ODP Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Perioperative Practice – HPC registration
15. RCS Basic Surgical Skills Course
16. SCP training completed
17. ENB 176/183/182 or equivalent
18. Teaching/assessing qualification – ENB 998 or equivalent
19. Masters Degree
20. Certificate in Management Studies or equivalent.
