L3Harris in Farnborough specialises in secure ground and airborne communication and network systems for the military, international forces and commercial customers. We engineer and maintain night vision goggles, radar systems and tactical radios. The L3Harris Falcon family of radios delivers network-centric communications for superior command and control, real-time voice, data, full-motion HD video and crossbanding for mission-critical communications in a single, integrated platform. Notably, we are the proud designer, supplier and maintainer of the 50,000 tactical radios in the Bowman tactical C4I system in service with the UK Armed Forces and are working to define and deliver the next generation system, Morpheus.

The UK Mission Critical Communications (MCC) finance team provide support to all functional areas of the UK business, and ensures regular review of financial information including key financial metrics.

The Project Finance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the financial performance and compliance of defense programs operating under UK Competitive and Single Source regulations. This position is responsible for monitoring project plans, analyzing financial data, and providing earned value insights to drive informed decision-making. The role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, can operate independently with minimal supervision, and is motivated to be an integral part of a high-performing team delivering complex programs.

Due to the nature of the small finance team, the role will allow opportunity to learn responsibilities outside of project reporting.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

11. Supporting financial reporting across both single source and non-single source programs.
12. Serve as the resident expert on UK programs reporting for contracts governed by the Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR), including Defense Contract Analysis and Reporting System (DefCARS) requirements
13. Partner with Program Managers and Finance leadership to review Estimates at Completion (EAC) monthly and present findings at program reviews.
14. Deliver comprehensive financial metrics, including Earned Value Management (EVM), to measure and communicate project performance.
15. Proactively scrutinise cost/hours charged to the program to ensure performance in line with gross margin expectations
16. Support project plan execution and ongoing monitoring from both financial and operational perspectives, identifying risks and opportunities.
17. Ensure appropriate revenue recognition and gross margins are in line with budget each month
18. Develop bid and pricing packs when required – this element of the job will grow with the business
19. Internal/external audit support as required
20. Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as business needs evolve.

28. Must be familiar with all MS Office applications with a strong emphasis in Excel;
29. Familiar with ERP accounting systems (PeopleSoft and Oracle an advantage)
30. Flexible working approach.

Qualifications:

31. Part Qualified or Qualified ACCA/CIMA or Qualified by experience.
32. Experience working with Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR) and regulatory reporting frameworks such as DefCARS.
33. Working knowledge of project forecasting methodologies, including Estimates at Completion (EAC) and Earned Value Management (EVM).

Preferred Additional Skills:

34. Familiarity with defense industry financial compliance and reporting standards.
35. Experience supporting bid pricing and cost build-up activities.
36. Exposure to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems used for project accounting and forecasting.
37. Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis capabilities.
38. Understanding of programs lifecycle controls within complex, multi-year contracts.
39. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in engineering, commercial, and programs management environments.
