About the role
This is a 12-month contract cover for the maternity leave of the Head of Content at LifeArc. The successful candidate will maintain and evolve the existing content strategy, delivering high‑quality content aligned to organisational goals and working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure consistency and engagement across all platforms. This hybrid role requires three days in the office and two days working from home.
About you
Responsibilities include:
* Deliver and refine the existing content strategy in collaboration with the Communications Director, Marketing Director and senior leaders.
* Drive the development and delivery of engaging content across web, social, video, audio and the corporate website.
* Maintain a regular creative content drumbeat, ensuring consistency and continually driving engagement.
* Manage and maintain a content editorial calendar to support specific, timely marketing, engagement and communications campaigns.
* Work with the Marketing Director and Social Media Manager to grow LifeArc’s digital presence.
* Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, acting as counsel for key messaging and crafting external communications for key audiences.
* Ensure a smooth transition into and out of the role, including handover planning and documentation.
* Maintain continuity of existing content strategies while identifying opportunities for improvement during the cover period.
* Lead the development, delivery and approval of corporate reporting documents in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Essential experience
* Demonstrable ability to devise and deliver content campaigns across a range of channels (web, social, video, audio).
* Proven track record of engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing content for diverse audiences.
* Experience in developing and applying evaluation metrics to assess content performance.
* Confident in managing editorial calendars and aligning content with strategic goals.
* Experience in media relations, including crafting media responses.
* Familiarity with sentiment analysis tools or audience insight platforms.
* Understanding of science or innovation sectors and ability to translate complex topics into accessible content.
Education
* A degree/diploma or relevant experience in public relations and communications is essential.
* Proficiency in all aspects of MS Office software is required.

* Strong understanding of communication channels (PR, digital, social media).
* Sound editorial judgement and ability to identify compelling stories.
* Collaborative and relationship‑oriented, with the ability to influence and advise stakeholders.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
* Comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Adaptable and able to quickly get up to speed with existing strategies, relationships and systems.
