The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, competent and motivated Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our Orthopaedic clinic team. The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care across orthopaedic clinic settings.
You will supervise and support staff, contribute to service improvement, and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse looking to further develop leadership skills within a busy, progressive Orthopaedic service.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Location based in Glasgow Royal Infirmary
* Permanent Contract
* Full-time position (36 hours per week)
* Shift pattern Monday - Friday - Dayshift Only
Key responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and act as nurse in charge as required
* Ensure delivery of evidence-based, person-centred care
* Supervise, support and appraise nursing and support staff
* Contribute to rostering, workforce planning and sickness management
* Maintain a safe clinical environment, ensuring governance, infection control and risk management standards are met
* Lead and support quality improvement and service development initiatives
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient flow and outcomes
* Actively participate in audit, education and practice development
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
Essential
* Registered Nurse on the NMC Register with experience at band 5
* Recent and relevant orthopaedic experience, preferably in casting and splintage techniques
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent analytical and numerical skills
* Good IT knowledge and skills
* Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of range clinical procedures and practices
* Knowledge of hospital policies/procedures and practices specific to the working environment
* Effective time management skillsAbility to use initiative
Desirable
* Successful completion of the Cleanliness Champions Programme
* Orthopaedic Nursing qualification
* BOA casting course
