Overview

Safeguarding and Mental Health Officer (DDSL)

Permanent Contract - NJC Grade H £38,626 - £43,693 (salary to be pro-rated)

Hours of Work: 36 hours per week TTO plus 15 days

Actual pro rated salary: £35,451.50 - £40,102.07

The operational Safeguarding Officer will have strategic and operational responsibility for leading on the areas of safeguarding and Mental Health and Wellbeing, across the school and will link with the Deputy Headteacher who has overall strategic oversight and responsibility for safeguarding. You will be responsible for developing and securing a robust and effective safeguarding culture across all aspects of school life. You will need to keep abreast of relevant information and legislation to ensure you develop robust policy and practice. Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher for Inclusion, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to support positive mental health and wellbeing across the school.

Please note that your approach and the ability to carry out all duties in line with school expectations is essential.

Responsibilities

* Provide strategic and operational leadership on safeguarding and Mental Health and Wellbeing across the school.
* Link with the Deputy Headteacher for safeguarding oversight and coordinate with relevant school teams to develop and secure a robust safeguarding culture.
* Develop and implement policies and practices in line with current safeguarding legislation and guidance.
* Collaborate with the Deputy Headteacher for Inclusion to promote positive mental health and wellbeing across the school.
* Ensure duties are carried out in accordance with school expectations and professional standards.

* Appointment subject to references and enhanced DBS disclosure.
