Start Date: ASAP
Talent Accountancy & Finance are recruiting a technically sharp Financial Accountant who thrives on deep-dive analysis and wants to play a hands-on role in improving transparency and control across a growing group. This requires a real blend of technical accounting with value-add analysis to support smarter, faster decision-making.
It’s a key hire that could be ideal for a first move from audit or practice for someone ready to step into a more commercially focused role, while still making full use of their technical grounding.
We’re looking for someone fully qualified (or very close) who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, challenging assumptions, and refining processes as the business gears up for its next phase of growth.
You’ll be based in a vibrant Manchester City Centre office four days a week, with the flexibility of one day WFH.
What’s on Offer:
* Salary up to £50,000
* Hybrid working (1 day WFH)
* Flexi-hours
* Staff discounts (you’ll want to hear about these!)
* Ownership of projects from day one – ideal for someone who thrives on variety and visibility
* Exposure to commercial and strategic decision-making
* High autonomy and regular contact with senior stakeholders & directors
Key Responsibilities:
* Own the balance sheet – deep dive into what should be there, not just what is
* Reconcile back to external controls and build forecasting tools based on real drivers
* Streamline reporting processes and month-end routines
* Support statutory accounts prep and liaison with auditors
* Build a formulaic approach to staff cost tracking and analysis
* Deliver insight into indirect costs, margins, and key business metrics
* Support budgeting and forecasting, ensuring alignment with wider strategy
* Assist with Adjusted EBITDA calculations and cost attribution
* Track budget performance and suggest improvements
* Identify cost-saving opportunities across departments
* Collaborate with senior leaders to influence key decisions
* Drive reporting and process automation (Excel and Power BI)
* Contribute to board-level packs and high-impact presentations
The Ideal Candidate:
You’ll be naturally curious, technically sharp, and driven to get things right at the root. This role suits someone who doesn’t just accept the numbers - but digs into the “why” behind them to drive clarity and confidence in the figures.
We’re open to candidates from industry or practice, and especially encourage applications from those looking to make their first move from audit into a commercial role.
* Fully qualified (or finalist level)
* Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets
* Experienced in Power BI and driving automation through data
* Technically strong with a solid grasp of accounting fundamentals
* Detail-focused with high standards of accuracy
* A first-principles thinker who challenges assumptions
* Motivated to understand processes end-to-end
* Naturally analytical with strong problem-solving skills
* A confident communicator who can influence across teams
