Salary: £25,583 to progress to £30,024Location: The Council House Hours: 37 hours a week Contract Type: Fixed Term for 5 years Closing Date: 31st May 2026 Our Estates Team at Derby City Council manage over 1400 property assets and our rent roll is over £3 million per annum. This role is career graded whereby the successful candidate will commit to undertaking a 5 year Chartered Surveyor Apprenticeship in accordance with Apprenticeship Standard ST0331, on the Property Pathway. See following link - The Apprenticeship will typically take 5 years to complete and will require the successful candidate to undertake a BSc (Hons) degree qualification and study towards their Assessment of Professional Competence in order to qualify as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS status). How will I learn? • The Degree Apprenticeship route is taught one day a week during term time, at Nottingham Trent University and, where possible, you'll be taught alongside full-time students on the BSc (Hons) Real Estate course. – See the link - Chartered Surveyor, Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship (Real Estate) BSc (Hons) Undergraduate Course | N… • Your Uni day will run from 9 am through to about 6 pm, and normally three different subject areas are taught on each day. • The course is organised into structured modules and is delivered through lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminar groups, site visits, laboratory sessions, and individual and group projects. • The delivery of the course is enhanced by the incorporation of guest lectures delivered by external practitioner experts, extensive use of case studies and projects (some set by real companies). Although the successful candidate will be primarily based within the Estates service they will have access to the wider property teams to ensure a broad range of experience is obtained. Ideally they will possess previous experience working within a property related environment with a positive attitude and aptitude for problem solving. Excellent communication skills are fundamental to this role with the ability to integrate with multi-disciplinary teams and to proactively support colleagues is essential. A sound knowledge of IT systems is integral and an understanding of corporate asset management systems would be beneficial in order to contribute to the success of the Council’s Corporate Property data programme.
