Opinion Editor - London Location London Business Area News and Media Ref 10050309 Description & Requirements Bloomberg Opinion is looking for a talented journalist to join our EMEA team as a senior editor. You would join a group of 14 columnists and three other editors responsible for producing commentary on business, finance, markets, politics, international affairs, technology, culture and climate, among other topics. Experience should include the conceiving and editing of stories, and working for a front-rank news organisation or similar publication. A background in opinion journalism is useful but not essential. You would report directly to Opinion's managing editor in Europe, James Boxell. We'll trust you to: Be a creative force who is comfortable editing and assigning sophisticated, probing and stylish opinion writing, while also giving ample space and authority to veteran columnists. Be a self-starter inspired by the news, and keen to offer our audience the first and best take on the most salient issues of the day and before our competitors get there. Be comfortable collaborating generously with editors and writers on a global team with a substantial US and APAC presence. Spot gaps and opportunities, and deliver innovative ways to improve our content and conceive, refine, and publish Opinion articles on the biggest stories of the day. You'll need to have: An advanced degree, or equivalent experience. Several years experience in business journalism. Excellent language skills, including the ability to elevate already strong writing. Exceptional attention to detail. We'd love to see: Have an active interest in video, data visualisations and audio; all have been arenas in which Opinion has thrived.
