Raytheon UK is searching for a Networks Solution Engineer to join our OMNIA® Training team.
As a Networks Solution Engineer, you will be critical to the successful delivery of the programme, collaborating within matrix organisation, with multi-disciplinary teams within Engineering
OMNIA are redefining the British Army’s collective training. To do that, we are looking for the best and brightest minds from across the UK. We are backed by British innovation and powered by world-class experts, like you.
We are looking for individuals who want to serve. You’ll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to deliver. You must be eligible and willing to obtain SC clearance and will be based at Warminster working in a hybrid style.
The role:
This is more than a job — it’s a mission. You will be part of a high-impact, collaborative environment, where we expect everyone to live the values and standards of the British Army. Every person in our team plays a critical role in delivering OMNIA’s vision; designing, delivering, and transforming collective training so the British Army is ready to fight and win.
You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally through the Service Desk Incident & Request Manager. Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable network infrastructure across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
2. Ensure network architectures meet latency, reliability, throughput, and availability requirements for Live, Virtual, and Constructive training systems.
3. Perform network traffic analysis, capacity planning, and bandwidth optimisation to maintain performance targets.
4. Implement and support resilient network solutions, including redundancy and failover mechanisms for mission-critical operations.
5. Configure, deploy, and monitor routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and intrusion detection systems in line with security policies.
6. Support the implementation and troubleshooting of mobile and RF communications technologies, including 4G/LTE and 5G, in complex or austere environments.
7. Conduct network testing, validation, and performance tuning to ensure interoperability and real-time data exchange across distributed systems.
8. Collaborate with engineering and simulation teams to translate technical requirements into network design specifications.
9. Provide technical support and fault resolution in collaboration with Through Life Support teams for network-related incidents.
10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
11. Support deployable and remote network solutions for training exercises and operational scenarios.
12. Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions to support auditability and knowledge sharing.
13. Evaluate emerging networking technologies and contribute to recommendations for adoption or integration.
14. Any other duties required to meet the needs of the programme.
Who we are looking for:
We’re after individuals who want to serve. You’ll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to ‘get things done’. You’ll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.
The OMNIA Networks Solution Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) global network infrastructure. While the network will be primarily UK-based, it will also extend to several international locations essential to ACTS operations. Working under the direction of the Global Network Lead, the Networks Solution Engineer will contribute to the delivery of secure, resilient, and high-performance network solutions that enable connectivity across all ACTS services and training environments. Given the programme’s focus on modelling and simulation, familiarity with relevant standards and technologies is highly desirable.
Essential Skills and Experience:
15. Proven experience designing and delivering mobile and RF network solutions in complex, multi-site, or austere environments.
16. Deep technical expertise in 4G/LTE, 5G, and RF communications technologies.
17. Strong background in military or mission-critical communications systems, including operational deployment and sustainment.
18. Experience implementing and supporting secure, high-availability network architectures across physical, hybrid, and cloud-integrated environments.
19. Strong understanding of network security principles, including segmentation, encryption, firewalling, and secure remote access.
20. Experience in network performance monitoring, traffic analysis, and fault diagnosis.
21. Experience supporting deployable or tactical networking solutions, including mobile edge computing, mesh networking, or tactical cloud environments.
22. Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and training teams, providing technical leadership where required.
23. Excellent analytical problem-solving capability and clear stakeholder communication.
24. Security cleared or ability to obtain (SC or above)
Desirable Skills and Experience:
25. Familiarity with Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) military training systems, including Training Engagement Systems (TES).
26. Experience integrating network solutions with simulation, training, or distributed exercise platforms.
27. Knowledge of defence communications standards and interoperability frameworks (e.g. NATO STANAGs).
28. Relevant networking certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCDP or equivalent).
29. Experience using network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. Cisco Network Analysis Modules, SolarWinds, Nessus) for performance and security assessment.
*Formal offers to successful candidate will be conditional upon award *
What we offer:
30. Chance to join a groundbreaking mission - to shape the future and drive innovation within a team focused on collaboration across a matrix organisation.
31. You will join at a unique time, where you can join in shaping this team and be rewarded with ongoing development opportunities, and clear pathways to progress within a trusted defence industry partner.
