Position Overview:
The Principal of StepStone Real Estate in London will play a critical role in sourcing, underwriting, and asset management of real estate investments across StepStone’s commingled funds and discretionary accounts.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Market coverage and origination, focusing on Germany, France, or the Nordics.
2. Lead due diligence for real estate investments, including property, market, manager, legal, and structural factors.
3. Manage investment committee processes, develop financial models, and prepare investment memoranda.
4. Participate in negotiations, structuring, and documentation of investments with legal support.
5. Prepare and present investment memoranda highlighting key findings, risks, and merits.
6. Present investment opportunities to stakeholders.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
1. BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting, or equivalent experience. An MBA or similar is preferred.
2. 10+ years in real estate investment or capital markets roles.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Proficiency in additional European languages and networks.
2. Experience managing real estate private equity transactions.
3. Strong investment judgment and risk/reward understanding.
4. Excellent business writing skills, especially for investment memos.
5. Financial modeling expertise, including capital structures and cash flow waterfalls.
6. Strong client communication skills.
