Experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant - full time at a secondary school in South Manchester
Monday - Friday, Term time only
We are currently seeking an experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time basis in a secondary school in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to promote positive learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting students in the classroom, either one-to-one or in small groups
* Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
* Providing targeted support to students with additional learning needs (SEN experience desirable)
* Assisting teachers in adapting lessons and resources to meet individual needs
* Implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required
* Supporting students with emotional regulation, social skills, and engagement in learning
* Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral teams to monitor progress and provide feedback
* Promoting inclusion and positive behaviour within the classroom and wider school environment
* Assisting with personal or academic support where necessary (depending on pupil needs)
* Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and moderate learning difficulties
* Supporting students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in line with individual learning targets
* Encouraging student engagement, behaviour, and academic progress
* Supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific work
* Assisting with preparation of learning materials and resources
* Supervising students during lessons and school activities as required
Requirements
* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school
* Strong understanding of the secondary curriculum (KS3 & KS4)
* Proven experience supporting SEN pupils in a secondary school setting
* Strong understanding of a range of SEND needs and effective support strategies
* Experience working with EHCPs and targeted interventions
* Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
* Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
