Job Title: Response Officer Night Only (Temporary)
Salary: £26,403 – £28,142 (pro rata) + shift allowance & weekend enhancements
Hours: 35.25 hours
Contract: Temporary
Location: Leedswatch


Overview

You will work 35.25 hours per week on a 4 days on, 4 days off shift rota from 17:00 to 04:00. The post is temporary until 31 July 2026 with a basic starting salary of £28,142 per annum pro‑rata and potential to earn £37,428 with enhancements. About You

As a Response Officer you will:

* Respond to and witness noise complaints, asking perpetrators to reduce or stop noise levels.
* Document observations in accurate paperwork and attend court as required.
* Conduct routine patrols and security checks at various locations.

About the Role

As a Response Officer (Nights only) you will work in pairs to evaluate noise nuisance reports against Section 79(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014. You will provide a professional service to customers and partners, supporting crime reduction and the Safer Leeds Plan.

Job Purpose

To deliver a responsive, professional service to customers and partners, supporting crime reduction in line with the Safer Leeds Plan. This involves working with a team of Response Officers to assess noise nuisance reports and assist public safety.


Responsibilities

* Use own initiative where appropriate.
* Comply with operational procedures and guidelines.
* Work flexibly to meet service needs and development.
* Contribute to Leedswatch promotion and development.
* Collaborate with Police and other agencies, engaging in action days and initiatives.
* Use communication tools (radios, telephone, body cameras, mobile CCTV, basic IT).
* Return calls to confirm noise status and respond to ongoing issues.
* Contact premises to advise on noise reduction, and if necessary, serve warnings or legal notices.
* Attend court when required.
* Maintain professional conduct at all times, even in difficult or abusive situations.
* Patrol and report all insecurities, securing premises as needed.
* Handle key management duties and administer dynamic risk assessments.
* Participate in training, appraisals, and professional development.
* Support equality, diversity and anti‑discrimination initiatives as per council policy.
* Work within the council’s flexibility protocol and other relevant policies.


Qualifications

You must be willing to undertake Security Industry Authority Level 2 BTEC awards for security.


Essential Requirements

* Full current UK driving licence.
* Accurate record‑keeping and understanding of regulations, policy and legislation.
* Preservation of crime scenes & evidence.
* Teamwork and team‑building contributions.
* Initiative, responsibility and decision‑making within agreed criteria.
* Effective communication at all levels.
* Minimum supervision.
* Conflict resolution skills.
* Understanding of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
* Preparation of accurate information and witness statements.
* Attendance at court for evidence provision.
* Analysis and assessment of appropriate actions to prevent recurrence.
* Compliance with health and safety policies.
* Computer package experience.
* Experience liaising with Police and other agencies.
* Teamwork to meet targets and deliver a responsive service.
