SEND Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs

At Long-Term Teachers, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with complex needs in a welcoming primary school in Evesham.
About the Role
This is a long-term position working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for a child with complex needs, which may include communication difficulties, sensory processing differences, medical needs, and social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
The role will involve:
* Supporting learning and development through personalised strategies.
* Implementing structured routines to provide consistency and reassurance.
* Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
* Providing support with communication, interaction, and sensory needs.
* Liaising with external professionals (where required) to follow support plans.
* Ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment at all times.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals with proven experience supporting children with complex SEND/SEMH needs, ideally in a school or care-based setting. The right candidate will bring patience, resilience, and creativity to the role.
Essential qualities include:
* Experience working with children with complex needs (communication, sensory, medical, or behavioural).
* Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach.
* A nurturing and empathetic mindset, with a passion for inclusive education.
* Flexibility and adaptability to respond to individual needs.
* The ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
* Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude.
