An exciting opportunity has arisen within Neonatal Services at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for Band 4 Nursery Nurse for our level 1 Special Care Baby Unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.
The post holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care for babies and their families in the ward/department.

Main duties of the job
* Provide individualised holistic nursing care in a sensitive manner, under the supervision of registered nursing staff.
* To have an understanding of the importance of the family's contribution to care, support them during their baby's admission and involve them in the care as appropriate.
* To act as an advocate for babies within the ward/department.
* Understand the importance of the need for confidentiality and information sharing.
* Play an active role in health promotion and parent craft teaching.
* To adhere to policies laid down by the Trust and inform the nurse in charge of shift on matters that affect implementation of the agreed policies.
* Ensure due regard to given customs, values and spiritual beliefs of families.
* Ensure accurate and clear records are kept according to NMC guidelines for Records and Record Keeping and ensure all written records are countersigned by a registered nurse.
* Participate in a clinical supervision group and contribute to regular ward meetings.
* Maintain knowledge base by attending relevant training.
* Actively participate in Service Development Projects and Initiatives such as undertaking Link Nurse Roles, within sphere of knowledge and practice, and membership of ward project groups/working parties with the support and supervision of senior staff.
* Work cross site within neonatal services if required. Orientation will be provided.
Education and Qualifications
* NNEB or equivalent
* Previous experience in a care setting of newborns
* Experience of nursery nursing in a hospital setting
Experience
* Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and parents/carers
* Ability to deliver written or verbal reports with the awareness of the need for confidentiality
* Ability to advise and teach parenting skills
Skills/Knowledge/Attributes
* Acquired knowledge and understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding agenda
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work as part of a team
* Ability to identify problems and recognise when further advice is needed
* Contributes to department by attending team meetings, clinical supervision etc.
* Willingness to attend study days
* Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses and how these can be developed/ utilised to benefit staff and patients
* Can demonstrate flexible approach to work pattern in line with service requirements
* Knowledge of professional issues within Trust and NHS
* Ability to develop IT skills required
* Ability to develop in line with dimensions of KSF outline
* Interest in teaching and supervising students/new staff
* Ability to work in a busy and pressurised environment
