Humly North East are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate Early Years Teaching Assistant to join one of our partnership schools in Durham on a long-term temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young children's learning and development in a nursery or early years setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting teachers in providing a high-quality learning environment for our youngest learners.
You will be working closely with early years children and supporting the delivery of a broad and engaging curriculum. Your role will be to help foster children's social, emotional, and cognitive development through tailored support and interventions, ensuring that each child has the best possible start to their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to children, helping them with their learning, social interactions, and development.
* Support children with additional learning needs, adapting resources and strategies where necessary.
* Help manage the classroom environment, ensuring it is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning.
* Observe and record children's progress and development, feeding this information back to the class teacher.
* Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging children to develop their confidence and independence.
* Build strong, supportive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents.
Person Specification:
* Experience: Experience working with young children, ideally in an early years or educational setting.
* Skills: Strong communication skills, both with children and adults; patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Qualifications: A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare, Early Years Education, or Teaching Assistant qualification) is essential.
* Attitude: Passion for early childhood education, with a positive, proactive, and caring approach to supporting children's learning and development.
* Safeguarding: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. (An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.)
