We are a managed service provider who have exclusively partnered up with an Aerospace company near Oxford to handle their entire recruitment process as they search for a Power Engineer to join them on a contract basis. They manufacture revolutionary technology supporting the ever growing advanced air mobility (AAM) sector. You will have the opportunity to work in a fantastic work environment. It will initially begin as a 6-month contract with the opportunity to continue on an ongoing basis.
The successful Power Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
1. Support and contribute to the inverter and converter power development
2. Contribute to reviewing specifications
3. Contribute to design reviews
4. Supporting the safety case (ARP4754A/DO254) of the system
5. Design, develop, debug and validate power electronics for use in inverter and converter products for aerospace applications
6. Conduct simulation and evaluation of EMC, power and thermal models
7. Undertake schematic capture, PCB layout design and manufacturing support
8. Evaluate component lifetime, limits and derating
9. Support EMC testing and the development of technical files
The Power Engineer will ideally have the following skills or experience:
10. Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or a demonstratable level of relevant industrial experience
11. Demonstrated track record of engineering ability in a power electronics discipline
12. Knowledge of power electronic devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, wideband gap devices, capacitors, current sensors)
13. Previous experience of electronic component selection and characterisation
14. Previous experience of modelling, simulation and analysis of power devices for inverter systems
15. Previous proven experience in power electronics design, including schematic layout, PCB layout, component selection
16. Ability to perform design analysis, including worst-case, tolerance, thermal, and stress
17. Competent in the use of ECAD tools including Mathcad, Simulink, Schematic, PCB, Modelling, Simulation
18. Experience designing for EMC compliance and best practices
19. Experienced in Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
20. Experience developing products that comply with functional safety standards (such as ARP4754A/DO254 / ISO 26262)
21. Experience working with high voltage / high current / high-energy systems, following safe systems of work
